Jun.08--Members of the Maritime Labor Alliance have unanimously appointed Don Marcus, president of the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots, as president, and Mike Jewell, president of the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association, as secretary treasurer.
The MLA, formed in 2012, is comprised of the American Radio Association, Inlandboatmen’s Union, International Longshoremen’s Association, International Longshore and Warehouse Union, MM&P and MEBA. The MLA executive committee also includes John Radcliffe, ARA president; Alan Cote, IBU president; Harold Daggett, ILA president; and Bob McEllrath, ILWU president.
“The members of the Maritime Labor Alliance are united and speak with one voice,” Marcus said at the MLA meeting in Washington. “Our respective memberships, whether shore-side or at sea, are stronger together under the alliance.”
